Spamolution. Audi style spam control
Just as Audi sets the gold standard for luxury and performance in the automotive industry, IMail Server’s new partnership with Commtouch provides you the luxury of unparalleled spam protection
After a two-year test that Audi conducted, they have seen significant improvements in traffic congestion with their new ‘Travolution’ device that has made it so we never have to stop at a light. By connecting wirelessly to “smart” traffic lights, the device calculates the distance of an upcoming light and then advises you to how fast you need to go in order to reach the light as soon as it turns green. By having cars continuously moving, traffic speeds up, gas mileage improves due to less stopping and starting, and less idling cuts exhaust emissions. This in-car device tells drivers how fast to go in order to breeze through an intersection by ‘speaking’ to transmitters fitted inside a traffic signal that can be up to 300 yards away. ‘Travolution’ was initially developed by the Technical University of Munich in conjunction with traffic technology firm GEVAS. Professor Fritz Busch, of the university, said: “The new approaches to network-wide control of traffic lights, together with communication between traffic lights and intelligent cars, exploit a potential for improving traffic flows that have previously gone untapped.” The device still needs to be tested in different types of traffic patterns. If traffic is heavy then Travolution won’t assist you. However, if the traffic is moving slowly, then it will advise you what speed to maintain in order to avoid stopping. Audi explains that further tests are expected next year, and it is now too early to say how much the device would cost if it is put into mass production.
Unparalleled spam protection with Ipswitch and Commtouch
Ipswitch has implemented a new premium antispam engine from Commtouch. Its RPD, which is hosted by the Commtouch® Detection Center, proactively analyzes vast amounts of Internet traffic in real-time. Commtouch Advanced Security Daemon (a.k.a. ctasd™) is a plug-and-play email-borne spam and malware outbreak detection daemon that combines your current core messaging network infrastructure with advanced detection and classification capabilities. The daemon adds a layer of email filtering to your mail delivery system in order to provide real-time classification, already in the first minutes after a new outbreak is launched. Commtouch’s Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD) technology, based on the identification and classification of message patterns delivers the highest threat detection capabilities.
Just as Audi has discovered, pattern detection represents a new and greater understanding of how email-borne threats are created and propagated. Because tactics for distributing spam, phishing, and email-borne viruses and worms are constantly evolving, it is necessary to proactively identify new and unique patterns in real-time in order to determine new outbreaks as they are released to the Internet and begin targeting recipients.
The Commtouch approach is based on the understanding that all threat outbreaks share some common characteristics, including:
Most email messages within the outbreak have been altered to make it difficult to set blocking rules based on lexical analysis.
Most outbreaks include millions of email messages to maximize the highest possible response rate and the greatest ROI for the attacker.
Most outbreaks are released within a short period of time, requiring a real-time solution to detect the outbreak to limit or avoid the damage that can be incurred.
The good news about Ipswitch’s newly adopted premium antispam engine is that it has already been tested, and it automatically comes to you with a proven ability to adapt quickly to the rapid change of distribution and infiltration techniques invented by spammers and virus authors. IMail Server’s new partnership with Commtouch provides the luxury of unparalleled spam protection for worldwide enterprises and vendors of messaging and security applications.
