Ipswitch In Your Community

A friend of mine told me last weekend that if you imagine the work of Mother Teresa and Jimmy Buffett coming together, it would be a fair description of a weekend spent working with Habitat for Humanity. Now…most everyone I know loves Jimmy Buffett, and nobody that I know would dare say anything negative about Mother Teresa!  All I can say is that what I experienced turned out to be life changing for me. Thanks to my twin sister and my good friend Tom, I was introduced to my first blitz build and to a team of extraordinary people called the “crazies” who traveled from various states, including California, just to take part in this event.  What began the construction of three homes will eventually develop into the site that includes an additional fifteen Habitat homes in Marshville, NC.  This experience brought me together with a group of over 200 of the kindest, hard-working volunteers I have ever met.  I was inspired by the extraordinary teamwork and excitement from people who I had never before seen, not to mention a few “painless” boo-boo’s and compassionate tears.

As I worked in North Carolina, a team of Ipswitch employees lifted hands on the second phase of a Habitat home building project in Augusta, Georgia. So far, the team from Ipswitch has committed to pre-fabrication and on-site building phases for this project.  However, they need to stay ready! Because inside painting and landscaping are next.

So….If you have the passion of Mother Teresa and the fun loving state of mind of Jimmy Buffett, I encourage you to make a change and get involved in your local community. It’s a great way to give back to your community, help a family in need, and have loads of fun along the way!  It’s also great to work for a company that supports community service. Well done, team Ipswitch!  Keep up the good work.
