Seeing it to the End…

by Brad Senter on September 21st, 2009

HFH HouseThis past Saturday was September 19th and I had the pleasure of attending the dedication ceremony for the Habitat for Humanity house that we sponsored. While I stood there I remembered back to the day, months before, when several of us went to the cold Habitat warehouse and framed door and window casings. Later, we sent another team from the office to install drywall. And finally, I was able to go back with another group of co-workers and help paint the interior. But, now…there I was…standing in a completely finished house…watching as a grateful mother and her three children took the keys to their new home.

I was reminded of three things as I stood there:

  1. Nurturing a sense of community is a wonderful thing
  2. “Giving back” reminds me that there is more to this world than the narrow-scope in which I have defined it
  3. I work for a great company and with some of the greatest people

I would like to personally thank Ipswitch for their philanthropic vision that is so inspiring (see iCare@Ipswitch for more information). And ultimately I would like to congratulate the Culver family on their new home.
